Who is the Audience for This Movie?
The audience for this movie would be people who grew up in early to late 80’s, the movie is definitely a product of its era.
What I Liked About This Movie
I liked the voice acting and think that Burt & Dom played very well off each other. The characters were also very interestingly drawn and the art style is definitely different. I really liked this movie when I was younger, it was one of the coveted 4 VHS movies I rocked. The other three were: Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Land Before Time and E.T.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Like I said I really liked this movie as child and after watching it over 10 years later I was shocked at how grim and unethical this movie is for kids. The main themes are gambling, revenge, and death. While the art style is interesting the colors are very dark at times and leave a very drab feeling through much of the movie.
Should You Watch This Movie?
If you watched this movie as a kid I would definitely give it a revisit, I did and I am surprised how dark and brooding many parts of it were. The 80’s were a very strange time apparently.
