The army is looking for the most average soldier and end up finding Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson). He is chosen to take part in a hibernation program along with an average women named Rita (Maya Rudolph) who happens to be a hooker. Something goes wrong and Joe & Rita are not awakened one year later. Instead they wake up in the year 2505 and the world’s population has been overrun by people with very low intelligence.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
Fans of low brow comedy.
What I Liked About This Movie
The beginning of this movie perfectly sets the stage for a classic satire on a possible future where lesser intelligence has become our next evolutionary step. Some of the gags on how larger corporate entities have changed their services over time are really funny.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Before I state what I did not like I just want to say I did give this movie a chance and watched it twice before making an opinion on it.

Mike Judge is amazing at writing satire whether it is Beavis & Butthead pretending to get drunk off of non-alcoholic beer or Ron Livingston in office space telling his job performance reviewers exactly what he does in a day at work.
Unfortunately I do not understand where he was going with this movie after the initial setup. After the setup the movie turns into a series of gags and non subtle jokes that miss way more often they hit. It is a shame too because I really wanted to like this movie but it had long stretches where I did not laugh.
The acting from the supporting actor Dax Shepard (Frito) was very poor. It is obvious he had to act stupid for the character but acting stupid and actually being funny while doing it are two different things.
Should You Watch This Movie?
I so wanted to like this movie but it just did not deliver the clever comedy you would expect from Mike Judge.
