The sun is dying and the earth is peril. Most of earth’s resources have been spent on a mission to drop a monumentally large bomb on the sun to reignite it. Contact is lost with the crew of the mission (Icarus 1) and all of the earth’s remaining resources are put into the Icarus 2 mission, they are earth’s last hope.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
This movie appeals to those who like suspenseful space travel movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
This movie is beautifully shot. Many of the shots had me awe like the first time I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey. Here is where I may lose points with a portion of the people who have seen this movie; I liked the movies third act twist. I felt it was a ballsy and a welcome addition to what have could have been a very unsatisfying ending to the movie.

Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) also puts in a good performance as Capa, the scientist who is the foremost leader on the science behind the Icarus bomb.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Some of the characters are fleshed out better then others which leaves the audience to have little emotional attachment to some of the crew.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Many people will be turned off by the twist that happens in the movies third act but if you go along with it you will really enjoy this movie. If you do happen to like this movie the second viewing is much better then the initial viewing. If you have an HDTV and a Blu-Ray player you definitely need to see this movie on Blu Ray, it looks absolutely fantastic.
