Hatchet Review

A group of tourists on a haunted swamp boat tour get stranded. Unfortunately it is the same swamp a New Orleans legend “Victor Crowley” lives in. The group must not only make their way back to the city but must deal with a ruthless killer chasing them.

Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of horror movies with a lot of gore.

What I Liked About This Movie

Hatchet is a breath of fresh air in a genre that as of late has been very stale. Oddly enough it feels fresh because it has an 80’s slasher movie vibe. Being influenced heavily by 80’s horror this usually means one thing; there are a lot of deaths delivered by a crazed madman.

To go along with the creative and very gory deaths there are of course some gratuitous boobs and corny jokes. The movie does not play out as you would expect it too and the ending is absolutely fantastic.

Hatchet it is a great horror movie and I am very happy I saw this movie.

What Didn’t Work For Me

The beginning was a bit boring. Visually the beginning was uninteresting and I was a bit worried it would be another mediocre horror movie. The only other thing that I would say dampers the movie is that some of the character interactions and jokes were kind of weak. The dialogue is generally to fault for that and leads to a few dumb scenes.

Should You Watch This Movie?

If you like horror movies that do not take themselves seriously then give Hatchet a spin.
