What I Liked About This Movie

The puppetry in this movie is well crafted and smartly executed. Matt Stone & Trey Parker of South Park Fame even purposely decided to leave all the puppet strings visible, which is hilarious. In a few instances they even have the puppeteers intentionally make the movement really poor for comedic effect.

Team America is the first movie to have a hardcore puppet sex scene. Take it for what you will but I found it strange and highly comedic. The caricatures of famous actors/people are in no way spot on and the creators obviously just played them off however they felt would be the funniest.

The general theme of this movie is extreme Pro-American ideologies. The way they depicted Americans is obnoxious and overly patriotic but that is their intent. This character setup makes for scenes that anyone with knowledge of American stereotypes will find hilarious.

I have to give props to the theme song and the song about how bad Pearl Harbor the movie was. Both songs are highly creative.

What Didn’t Work For Me

While funny, most of this movie is offensive to other religions/races. I felt kind of bad for laughing at many of the jokes. That is not to say I did not enjoy myself but Team America is one of those movies you know you should not find funny but do.

My only other complaint would be that the action scenes in this movie are not even close to as entertaining as the comedic scenes are.

Should You Watch This Movie?

Most people will find this movie extremely stupid but I enjoyed it.
