The Bank Job Review

A group of wannabe criminals (Led by Jason Statham) attempt to rob a banks security deposit box vault. What they accidentally find, along with jewels and money is dirt on important people who would very much need to keep what is in their safety deposit box away from the eyes of others.

Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of heist movies.

What I Liked About This Movie

Being a heist film the most important goal is to have an entertaining heist. Jason Statham leads his band of what you would loosely call “criminals” with a lot of charisma. He is always generally entertaining to watch on screen, even though he is playing the same type of character he has played in many movies.

The Bank Job Review

The heist itself takes a different route then your average heist film and for the most part it pays off. The actual heist part of the film takes up a sizable amount of time compared to many other movies in the heist genre. Spending more time on the heist added more dimension to the repercussions. Once the “ish” hits the fan after the heist the movie leads to a satisfying conclusion.

What Didn’t Work For Me

I felt the lead up the actual crime dragged on too much. The pacing gets faster as the movie goes on but in the beginning it feels really slow and had me impatiently waiting for the movie to get to the heist.

There are many different plot threads in this movie that do not feel like they were handled very well. Everything about the movies story structure felt too loose to create the suspense needed for me as a viewer to get really engaged in the movie.

Should You Watch This Movie?

It is entertaining and if you like Statham I would recommend you watch it.
