The Brothers Grimm Review

Jacob (Heath Ledger) and Wilhelm (Matt Damon) Grimm are con artists who travel to villages pretending to protect townsfolk from enchanted creatures. However, after successfully scamming a village they are arrested for their crimes. The brothers are given the choice to deal with the threat of real enchanted creatures or be executed.

Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of fantasy movies with a lot of comedy mixed in.

What I Liked About This Movie

I like Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Twelve Monkeys); He always manages to create his own unique worlds in his movies. In the Brothers Grimm he not only creates a unique world he fills his world with some interesting creatures and crafts a story that will please fantasy fans.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Brothers Grimm is a fantasy/comedy but while it succeeds in its fantasy aspect I did not find any of its comedy very funny. This could be attributed to the fact that the chemistry between the actors is non existent and the acting comes off very bland at times.

The Brothers Grimm Photo

The CGI used in many scenes is also really awful considering this movie did have a high enough to budget to be released in theaters.

Should You Watch This Movie?

Too be honest I could not think of much to say about this movie because it was very disappointing. I would only watch this movie if you REALLY like Terry Gilliam.
