What I Liked About This Movie

Sacha Baron Cohen is a very talented comedian who managed to create three distinctly different yet equally interesting characters. Personally I really like the show and loved watching peoples dumb founded responses to everything that came out of his characters mouths. After all the characters became insanely popular it was evident that the next step for them was feature length movies. I was genuinely interested in seeing a movie starring Ali G with hopes that it could manage to re-create the same genuine tone the show had.

What Didn’t Work For Me

You can probably guess what I am going to say but I will say it anyways; Ali G Indahouse was not the movie I was expecting. My first viewing was disappointing to the point I was actually mad at how much I did not like it. But with my belief in second chances where I believe they are due I gave this movie another shot a year later.

Shedding my expectations still did not make this movie anymore entertaining. Of course in a movie that throws every possible joke it can at you there are will be some solid laughs but the solid laughs do not make up for the overly cartoony style. Everyone freely accepts Ali G’s behavior without hesitation which in a way is the complete opposite of what made the character so successful on the TV show. I could go on as to the specifics of why I did not like this movie but it would be easier if I just stated that “I didn’t get it”.

This is one of those movies that you either dislike or find absolutely hilarious.
