Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like 80’s style action movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
When I was younger the concept of seeing both Stallone and Kurt Russell in the same movie almost made my head explode. Having both action stars on screen at the same time was the pinnacle of 80’s action movies. The two stars riff on each other throughout the movie with cheesy one-liners that are actually kind of funny.

Tango & Cash features numerous over the top action/fight scenes that are good fun and when I watch a no-brains action movie I expect the action to be a huge spectacle. Tango & Cash manages to have scenes that are enough of a spectacle that the sum of the entertainment dealt out in them make up for the aspects of the movie that fail.
What Didn’t Work For Me
I friggin loved this movie as a kid but I realize now that it truly is not what you would classify as a good movie. The story is full of ludicrous plot holes that are swept under the rug to simply push the characters into scenes that require either fighting or shooting guns. Action setups that the characters are pushed into feel so cheaply added to the movie that any possibility of even minor believability is tossed out the window. In a move to a comedic touch to the proceedings in one scene the two men must dress in women’s clothing to avoid capture and as you can imagine it is very awkward to watch.
Every other character besides Tango & Cash has awful dialogue that even if you are not really caring about what they are saying you will still notice how terrible it is. If you are watching this movie and do not know when it was made as soon as the music kicks in you will. A major problem with these 80’s movies is that they contain 80’s style music that has aged very poorly.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Although it is an awful movie deep down I still enjoy watching it to this day.
