Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like computer oriented movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
This movie opens with a bang; I felt it was a nice kick start to the movie. Taking into consideration that this movie it was a direct to DVD release the special effects do the job but are definitely not as impressive as the effects used in many big budget movies. I was expecting some poorly structured scenes but The Dead Code is shot/edited well.
I usually do no have expectations for movies like The Dead Code but it did end up providing some average entertainment. Seeing Amanda Walsh trying to play a serious character was definitely the highlight for me because I remember watching her on YTV (Kids Channel on Canadian Television). She isn’t very good at acting; I just personally found it entertaining to watch her try to be serious.
What Didn’t Work For Me
When your movie is almost exclusively relying on the believability of the computer use why would you not ensure it looks as authentic as possible? You would think that would be important but apparently the creators did not think so. If you are making a sequel to a classic movie please don’t make it a retread of the original. The purpose of a sequel is to take the themes of the original and expand them. This movie fails at the two things it should have going for it. It’s kind of disappointing because I would really like to see a computer based movie done right at some point in my life.
Should You Watch This Movie?
The Dead Code is not awful just extremely average.
