What Didn’t Work For Me
I felt truly sorry for all the actors involved in this movie. It is as if M. Night Shyamalan told everyone to act the worse they possibly could. Every actor looks as though they were forced to use one expression and the dialogue is dreadful to boot.

If you do not care about acting and just want an entertaining thriller you will still be sorely disappointed. Plot wise everything that happens is utterly ludicrous (outrunning wind?) to the point that you will probably start laughing at what is “happening” on screen. To add another dimension to the story a sub plot about the flailing relationship between the husband/wife was added; too bad it is as poorly implemented as the thriller elements. Speaking of thriller elements, if you find trees/grass blowing in the wind scary then you will be on the edge of your seat. If you are a normal human being then you will be rolling eyes waiting for the scary moments (which are sparse).
Since it is an M. Night Shyamalan movie there has to be a big twist. Like everything else in this movie it also sucks. After a large amount of build up the movie leads to nowhere then a quick little twist at the end appears. At that point it is a little too late to save the movie from being even a decent waste of time.
Should You Watch This Movie?
The Happening is a misguided thriller that managed to nose dive below the low expectations I had for it.
