Who is the Audience for This Movie?
Fans of comic book character movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
Wasting no time the movie starts with a few minutes of flashbacks to explain The Hulk’s back story. Having to show how the character came to be is one of the largest drawbacks when making the first movie in a super hero franchise. It was a wise choice to make the origin as quick and painless as possible. Edward Norton does do the character some justice because when he wants to he can act very angry or if need be he can pull off a meek personality quite convincingly.
Every time Banner turns into Hulk and havoc ensues is really sweet. The action contains quite a bit of variety and the CGI is impressive. At the end there is a showdown between the two monsters that in a very fitting way was the highlight of the movie.
What Didn’t Work For Me
I am unsure if it has something to do with my feelings towards the use of emotion in movies or not but I felt zero emotional connection to any character in The Incredible Hulk. For me to have an attachment to a character the mood has to be consistent and the character needs to be gain depth as the movie rolls on. The Hulk is a scrawny guy who when he gets mad turns to a monster; it’s that simple. If they played off The Hulk in fun way they could make a killer action movie. They tried and failed to make the dramatic elements captivating.

My disinterest in that aspect of the movie ended up spilling over into all of the scenes that did not involving The Hulk. I Sort of wished I could have just skipped to The Hulk scenes. This is the second time The Hulk has received a big budget release. I feel they should hang up the character at this point or team him up with other super heroes.
Should You Watch This Movie?
If you just want to see Hulk smash stuff up then you will enjoy this movie.
