Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like movies that are a bit strange.
What I Liked About This Movie
Since this will be the first David Lynch movie I have reviewed on this site it is only fair that I state up front that I happen to really like his surreal style of movie making. Many people toss it off as pretentious or unfocused but it is entertaining in its own way.

With that said Lynch put some very shocking scenes of sexuality and violence in Blue Velvet. Graphic violence is common place in cinema yet sex is usually still quite tamely used. If Lynch did not become a director of movies it is quite possible that he could have become a highly revered erotic movie maker.
The use of flat colors really lent themselves well to making the entire experience feel like a bad dream. With the heavy use of shadows there is rarely a moment that does not hold the ominous mood firmly in place. As the main character begins to unravel the mystery you are uncomfortably pulled along with him. This review would not feel right if I did not end its positives by stating that Dennis Hopper is real freaking creepy in this movie. He goes balls out with the evil character he was given and really makes him quite memorable
What Didn’t Work For Me
Throughout the movie there is a lot of weak line delivery by a few of the cast members that is quite cringe worthy. When it happens once or twice in a movie you can let it go but when it happens quite a few times it should be noted.
Should You Watch This Movie?
It is definitely not a movie that aims to be pleasurable for everyone and you will either really dig it or not even want to finish it.
