What I Liked About This Movie
Not knowing what I should be expecting before watching this movie helped greatly to bolster my enjoyment it. Its shot in a nicely contrasted black & white and benefits greatly from the depth of shadows that lack of color often exhibits.
The theme of Coffee and Cigarettes is really not about the two commonplace addictions it has subtle undertones that at first are only slightly apparent. As the vignettes role on common threads begin to link the numerous conversations together. To make it more entertaining there are multiple occasions of subtle humor that should make you chuckle.

Out of all of the sections I would have to say my favorite is the one with Iggy Pop and Tom Waitts (pictured above). It’s fittingly awkward with Iggy Pop giving a surprisingly decent performance. In close second would have be the section with Cate Blanchett playing both herself and a twin family member. Filled with plenty of tongue in cheek humor it is nice to see a big celebrity poke a little fun at herself.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Even though there were many things I did like about it a few of the scenes really did not click with me. Two in particular were quite disappointing. The first one being “Jack Shows Meg His Tesla Coil” which happens to have Jack and Meg White playing themselves. It’s about as exciting as the title makes it sound. The second disappointment was the Wu Tang and Bill Murray scene. I happen to really like both parties involved but RZA/GZA have terrible charisma in front of the camera.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Even though I did not like some of the sections it still had a few interesting moments.
