Who is the Audience for This Movie?
Fans of quirky sci-fi movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has a lot to offer in the visuals department. For starters the animation style used in the actual Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that the characters use in the movie is quite clever. It is brightly colored with very simplistic stick figure like animation that highly contrasts everything else in the movie. Special effects are used quite frequently through much of the movie and thankfully they are very solid. All of the worlds they visit are very well defined with fantastic set design to thank for it. Costume design is also interesting with unique looking aliens that you really cannot compare to any you may have seen in other sci-fi movies.

More importantly, the story is insanely unique. This movie does not follow the typical space adventure story arcs you may be used to. The movie starts off with the world being blown up to make way for a hyperspace bypass and only gets stranger from there. Numerous quirky characters are thrown into the mix keeping it from ever really getting boring. First time I watched this movie I think I was expecting a more typical adventure and really did not like it. On my second viewing however I embraced its weirdness. If you go into watching it with an open mind you will be very entertained.
What Didn’t Work For Me
The one complaint I have about the movie is quite a large one. Everything that happens during the movie happens way too fast. This is most likely due to the intended scope being greater then the actual running time could. It kind of sucks that many of the most interesting aspects of the movie have little screen time. I truly believe that this could have been an epic movie if they made it much longer.
Should You Watch This Movie?
I would say so.
