Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like experimental movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
The Trial is incredibly framed surreal movie crafted by Orson Welles. As you can gather from my synopsis the story starts off on a very confusing note but as you would not expect nothing is ever fully explained even after the credits roll. This unique structure comes off either frustrating or engrossing depending on your taste in movies. Dialogue is razor sharp and scenes are pushed along quite quickly with an incredible amount of camera movement.

Anthony Perkins played a now classic character in the movie “Psycho” and is once again impressive on screen. His characters paranoia builds progressively until it reaches a boiling point that Perkins handles quite well. Since it is a movie made by Orson Welles he does make an appearance in what would be considered a smaller role but none the less he manages to steal at least one scene from the star of the movie.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Romance elements that are sprinkled throughout the movie feel oddly included and derail the pacing making the movie feel a lot longer then it should. It also seems that woman in the movie fall madly in love with him for no real reason.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Welles stated that this was his masterpiece although I do not agree with him it is still quite captivating.
