Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of spy movies.

What I Liked About This Movie

Body of lies starts off with an explosive (literally) pre-title sequence that really jump starts everything that happens after it. Within moments you are already thrown into the main focus of the story with almost no time to even contemplate the opening scene. This unique setup gets the plot moving insanely quickly. Lightning fast pacing is this movies greatest strength. So much happens through the course of the movie yet it does not feel like the plot lines they jump from need more development. Beyond the fast pacing you get the usual espionage, explosions and gun fights that accompany the spy genre. All three of those things tend to interest me especially explosions; I like explosions.

Body of Lies Photo

From the start I thought I had the plot completely figured out yet in one scene near the end it flips on you and makes the entire experience of watching the movie very satisfying. It was nice to watch a movie that used a twist that was not easily decipherable. Acting wise both Crowe and DiCaprio put up great performances. Crowe gained a lot of weight to play the role of a stereotypical American with a slight southern accent. Considering that he is a New Zealander he plays what you could say is the polar opposite of his normal roles perfectly.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Surprisingly enough the only thing that didn’t work for me was the jumpiness of the story at the beginning. I was expecting the rest of the movie to be as muddy but after a little while it begins to hit a good stride.

Should You Watch This Movie?

Body of Lies will not disappoint fans of spy movies.
