Who is the Audience for This Movie?

People who like action filled blockbusters.

What I Liked About This Movie

When I watched this movie I viewed it with a few other people and bad movies often gain more entertainment value then they should when watched in groups. If I were to have watched it by myself I probably would not have gotten much entertainment value out of it.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Truth be told I found the first two Mummy movies enjoyable. Granted, they may not be masterpieces but they provided enough entertainment to make them worth watching. In keeping with a common Hollywood trend they decided they MUST make The Mummy into a trilogy to allow the creators one last stab at cashing in on the success of the first two movies. When a movie is made for that reason you usually end up with a really crappy movie.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Photo

Such is the case with the third Mummy movie. For the most part it feels like at all times through both the writing and editing process they set out to make a bland action movie with no original ideas that simply regurgitates the best aspects of its predecessors. What we the viewer are left with is a movie jam packed with overly produced action scenes, a flimsy plot, jokes that are no longer funny, and an overload of CGI. The only point I feel I need to elaborate on is the CGI. For a movie that had such a large budget the CGI looks really low grade when compared to many of today’s movies.

Should You Watch This Movie?

The mummy franchise has never been really amazing but it hits rock bottom with its third iteration.
