A young reporter is shooting a piece about what its like to be on night shift at a fire hall and ends up following them to a call that is anything but routine.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like movies that look like they are shot with hand held cameras.
What I Liked About This Movie
[REC] is a Spanish horror movie that upon its release was already being re-made for North American audiences (Quarantine). I originally saw [REC] streaming off of a web site because it was not getting a North American release till after the remake was done. Originals tend to be better then their remakes but since I will never watch Quarantine I cannot tell you if it is or not. What I can saw however is that [REC] will keep you enthralled throughout its entire running time.

[REC] is shot in a hand held camera style that is handled quite well. The cameraman is a professional so when shots are framed properly it actually makes sense that most of the footage looks good. It is handled so perfectly that you almost feel like you yourself are experiencing the terrifying events. It starts out with what you would expect from a typical news report but increasingly ups the tension all the way up until the terrifying climax. If this movie does not engage you then there is something wrong with you.
I do not want to say too much about it because I really feel it is a movie that you need to watch knowing as little about it as possible. Trust me, it will be a much more regarding experience.
What Didn’t Work For Me
After 2 viewings I have no urge to ever watch it again. Once you reach the end of the movie you immediately get that “WOAH” feeling that on repeat viewings you will never be able to repeat.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Definitely.
My Rating (Out of 13)
