What I Liked About This Movie
When I saw the trailer I found it hilarious so I had to see this movie. I have to say I really like how it starts. Much like the effects of the energy drink the duo sell its opening is very fast moving and wastes no time setting up the plot. Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd seem like an odd combination for a comedic duo but it works well. Rudd’s dry joke delivery contrasts Scott’s over the top zaniness effectively.
The two kids have drastically different personalities and problems that lead to some funny situations. Having two completely different kids to split the movie into two threads worked well. One of the boys is very outspoken while the other boy happens to like participating in LARP’s (Live Action Role Playing Games). Role Models ends with an all out LARP battle that has everyone working together. It finishes the movie on a hilarious note.
What Didn’t Work For Me
All of the comedic stuff is really good but the middle section of the movie tries its hardest to tear down all the good it does. If you have seen any movie where two people get along, then have a fight, then think about it, then reconcile then you will find the central portion of this movie very familiar.

This plot element has been so overused in movies that it no longer works for me. When you put it in a comedy it slows down the humor factor and when all I want to do is laugh it is a big downer. They really should have filled the movie with more jokes instead.

I thought it was a good watch. Totally agree the middle “break up” was a drag.
Some great lines - I’m gonna run a train on these chicken fingers!
