After her father is imprisoned by a horrible beast his daughter Belle offers herself in his place. What she does not know is that the beast is actually a striking prince, who along with his staff, has been cursed. In order to break the curse he must have someone fall in love with him.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like love stories.
What I Liked About This Movie
I remember not really being interested in Beauty and the Beast when I was younger. It seemed like it was another Disney movie directed more towards girls. When I eventually saw it my opinion changed quickly. It is at heart a love story and I am usually not a love story fan but everything about this movie is so sweet and innocent. The chemistry between Belle and the Beast is never too forced and the moment they finally connect is both beautifully animated and touching. Even if you are a little cold to these types of stories you should enjoy it.

Disney movies are known for having a lot of characters but I think Beauty and the Beast has the strongest collection of interesting speaking and non speaking characters. On the speaking side of things you have Gaston a burly self centered protagonist who will do whatever he must to have Belle’s hand in marriage. There are numerous others you could talk in length about but it is better you just watch the movie to discover your favorite. On the non-speaking side of things there is a walking foot rest that used to be a dog that I find hilarious to watch every time it is on screen.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Nothing worth mentioning.
Should You Watch This Movie?
There is a reason it is the only animated movie (so far) to be nominated for Best Picture (Academy Awards).
