After being ridiculed by his own kind a mouse helps a baby elephant named Dumbo become a star circus attraction.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
>Fans of animated movies that have animals as main characters.
What I Liked About This Movie
Dumbo contains a sequence in which both Dumbo and the mouse accidentally get drunk. What follows is an incredibly trippy sequence involving pink elephants (among other things). I wish after I have had a few too many drinks I would see what they see. The “pink elephant” sequence has a different animation style then the rest of the movie but it is the most interesting scene in Dumbo.
What Didn’t Work For Me
This movie is incredibly one note. Roughly 40 minutes (64 minute movie) is allotted to almost every character treating like Dumbo like dirt. After the first 15 minutes of this constant barrage it becomes incredibly tiresome and too mean spirited to be entertaining.

To make matters worse Dumbo’s retribution to all of the people who hated on him is to become a star attraction. No one really apologizes for treating him like dirt they just revel in the fact that they can now exploit him. The only characters that do apologize are a group of jive talking black crows (highly stereotyped) who end up being the cruelest of all the characters. Everyone else gets a pass.
Should You Watch This Movie?
It is interesting to watch older animated movies but the morals on display in Dumbo are terrible.
