Fans of vampire movies.

What I Liked About This Movie

Can’t say I have ever seen a vampire movie that was kind of sweet before watching Let The Right One In. Not sweet in the “oh snap that dude just got owned” way but in the “aww that was touching” way. To me this movie felt way more grounded in reality then your average vampire romp. You really feel bad for the little girl because she only kills for sustenance. She takes no pleasure in it and you always get the feeling from her demeanor that she feels burdened by what she is. The only time she is not somber is when her and the young outcast boy are together. It is an odd relationship that slowly blossoms into a very caring one.

All the scenes involving the young boy center mostly on his dealings with bullies and they feel really authentic. Unlike most vampire based movies the violent aspects are underplayed until the closing act. When the young boy’s time of redemption comes all the build up they create is well worth the invested time. The final moments also manage to stay true to the movies “sweet” vibe.

What Didn’t Work For Me

I really wish the movie would have moved along a little faster. My interest started to slide at times but it was eventually brought back so the pacing did not damper the experience too much.
