Who is the Audience for This Movie?

People who find water scary.

What I Liked About This Movie

It was short (80 minutes).

What Didn’t Work For Me

Even though I knew before I started watching Open Water it would have a very minimalist approach to its execution I still managed to feel like an idiot for watching it. What you are treated to is 80 very long minutes of amateurishly shot digital footage you could shoot with a mid level off the shelf camera from 4 years ago.

What are your eyeballs taking in for that time period you ask? (Maybe you didn’t but go with me here) Well for the first 15 minutes they do all of the character development the rest of the time you are watching two people float in the ocean. The one or two interesting parts that do pop up are ruined by awful editing. When it reaches its climax you will probably start laughing due to the terrible editing effect they use for what could be considered the most important scene of the movie. By the time the movie finally reaches its conclusion you feel so cheated because not only is unsatisfying but it is also uneventful.

Should You Watch This Movie?

NO.
