Non-religious people.
What I Liked About This Movie
Much like Bill Maher I have a lot of questions kicking around in my head when it comes to organized religion. Making a movie that questions religion is no easy task when you start questioning peoples beliefs you are guaranteed to push all of their wrong buttons. Many of the people Maher talks to give interesting responses but his straight forward questions are often met with run around answers. Maher really knows not only the questions to ask but the perfect time to ask them.

Religulous is very fast moving and covers a lot of religions in a very short time. The right amount of comedy is injected in to keep it entertaining throughout. Maher talks with a wide variety of people but my favorite part of the movie has to be when he talks to the actor who plays Jesus at a holy land theme park. After there interview is done you also get to see the crucifixion show they put on daily and boy is it ever creepy.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Bill Maher is funny dude but at times I felt he was being a little too mean spirited with his quips. The best example of one of those times would be when talking to a Christian about life after death he says to him (roughly) “if there is a better place for you in heaven then why don’t you kill yourself”.
Even though many religions are looked at in this movie it is shame that some of them were only brushed over. One religion I was hoping he would question in depth was scientology. As the movie was nearing its end I was really hoping there would be no in your face conclusion. Unfortunately my hoping has no effect on the decisions the moviemakers made and the closing scene is a heavy handed (and one sided) monologue.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Religious people who are not open-minded should not see this movie. If you are the type of person who has their own questions about religion then you will enjoy Religulous.
