Who is the Audience for This Movie?

People who like movies about terrorism.

What I Liked About This Movie

This is Don Cheadle’s movie. Guy Pearce (another big name) may be in it but it is obvious from the start that Cheadle put a lot of effort forth in order to make his character quite captivating.

Traitor Photo

When a westerner makes a movie about terrorism most of the time it is very one-sided, Traitor however, is actually quite balanced. Since Cheadle’s character is a devout Muslim who does not believe in the tactics used by his own people you get to see a view of terrorism you do not often see. On top of that, instead of the typical “Death to America” sentiment echoed in most movies about terrorism there are numerous moments that give more insight into why the terrorists do what they do.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Traitor has a distracting pace issue. Every time it starts getting real interesting and an important moment is presented it slows down. There really is no momentum to the movie. One of the things I found slowed it down was the addition of a love interest. It is an element that felt jammed in and it does nothing for the story.

On a completely different note, why is Canada presented as some kind of terrorist haven?

Should You Watch This Movie?

Traitor is solid entertainment.
