After a zombie outbreak occurs at an airport a handful of soldiers are sent into the airport to save a group of trapped survivors. Not all is as it seems though.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
Fans of the Resident Evil video games.
What I Liked About This Movie
You cannot fault Capcom (creators of Resident Evil) for not knowing their audience. Within a few minutes the expertly choreographed zombie action kicks in. After the initial burst of zombieness (not a word but I’m using it anyways) there are some minor story elements but it’s not long before more cool action starts up. Most of the scenes tend to use framing liberties that would be too complicated to pull off in a live action movie the inclusion of them works in its favor.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Watching an all animated Resident Evil movie was not even half as fun as playing one of the games. The franchise works so well because you guide the character through the scary setups with minimal hand holding. While watching Degeneration I felt like turning the movie off and playing one of the games the vibe is perfect but it’s not me shooting the zombies.

Never in an animated movie have I seen characters who emote so poorly. Every character seems to have a shiny coating over their skin and is incapable of showing any other facial expression that isn’t indifferent. I’m pretty sure the terrible dialogue does not help them either. The zombies end up being more life like then the actual people. What really bothered me is that the movie requires extensive knowledge of the Resident Evil universe. I played some of the games and even I was confused at times.
Should You Watch This Movie?
If you do not care about story and just want to see some zombie action then go for it.
