What I Liked About This Movie

The movies title tells you exactly what is going to happen but it is still interesting. There are no allusions to making the movie more then what it states in the name. You follow Jesse James in his later years and watch as Robert Crawford becomes one of his most trusted confidants (others are not as lucky). What the title does not give away is the repercussions for Robert Ford. The movie takes a little time at the end to give the character his due.

It is beautifully shot and happens to be a near perfect two character movie. Pitt and Affleck share numerous scenes together yet every time there is always a lot of sustained tension between them. While Pitt plays his role quite well it is Casey Affleck who ends up being the star of the movie. Affleck’s weak willed demeanor never feels over or underplayed.

What Didn’t Work For Me

At times it dragged just a tad.
