What I Liked About This Movie

I wish I could have been in the editing room when they were cut and pasting the movie together. Due to the way it is structured it had to have been an editor’s dream project. Usually when they make movies they have to pick the best takes of a particular scene in Groundhog Day they use the multiple takes very liberally. It is obvious Murray was really into the concept and most likely was allowed to ad lib some of his dialogue because even though you re-watch many of the same scenes every time something different is added and it is always funny.

Murray’s charisma carries the movie at all times. His love interest (Andie MacDowell) is often used to setup the jokes but both MacDowell and Murray both look like they really enjoyed themselves while making the movie. At first they do not seem like a match it is not till later in the movie you get the feeling that there is a spark between them. Simply put, the concept is simple and the execution is brilliant.

Should You Watch This Movie?

Groundhog Day is a movie about a person living one day over and over which is fitting because it happens to be the type of comedy you can watch over and over again.
