The Final Destination Review

A few friends survive a horrible accident when one of them sees a premonition of a disaster before it happens. Death doesn’t take to kindly to being cheated and ends up picking them off one by one.

Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of gruesome horror movies.

What I Liked About This Movie

For some reason I was in the mood for something trashy when I went to see The Final Destination. You could say it was a good match for the mood I was in at the time. I have watched all of the movies in the Final Destination franchise and the elaborate setups are always creative. As the franchise has gone on they have continually attempted to one up themselves and I truly do not see how they could take their formula any farther if they were to continue the franchise.

What Didn’t Work For Me

I was really hoping they would at the very least try something new in terms of structure. Before every death there is slight misdirection then a person gets taken out in a way you’re not expecting. Even the initial setup and ending feel very much like a re-hash of the original. I can only guess they were hoping people really liked the 3D and didn’t really care if the movie did anything new. The use of 3-D in The Final Destination ended up being not nearly as cool as I hoped it would be. Its entire inclusion is a gimmick but they could have done a lot more with it.

The Final Destination Photo

Most importantly my biggest gripe with every movie in the franchise is that not once do you actually care about the characters for the most part you’re cheering death on and waiting for them to get offed. There is no suspense or depth to it.

Should You Watch This Movie?

You are better off watching the original it’s pretty much the same movie but the acting is a bit better.
