Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of the Dragonball series.

What I Liked About This Movie

Even If you didn’t like this movie the one thing you would not be able to deny is that it looks beautiful.

The special effects are impressive, the choreography is crisp and the use of bright colors is a pleasure on the eyes. While watching the movie there were numerous things that ruin it but I kept watching it mostly because it just looks cool. The addition of Chow Yun Fat as the cartoonish Master Roshi as also a draw for me. He tends to play serious characters a lot and it was good to see him have a little fun with a character.

What Didn’t Work For Me

All of the elements that make the show so quirky are still in tact in the movie. For example the characters force every line of dialogue as much as they possibly can and the jokes are not nearly as funny as the writers think they are. The costumes the characters wear are close to those worn by their animated counterparts but they look ridiculous in a live action movie. Nothing about the movie can really be taken seriously and it tries and many points to be epically dramatic.

Should You Watch This Movie?

Hardcore fans will pick this movie apart but it was not as horrible as I expected it to be.
