Terminator Salavation Review

The human race is in a full on war with machines and the only thing stopping them from completely taking it over is a group of survivors lead by John Connor (Christian Bale).

Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of the Terminator series.

What I Liked About This Movie

Two things: there is plenty of action and the gritty style fits the series perfectly.

What Didn’t Work For Me

This movie shouldn’t exist. As a kid who grew up in the 90’s it was bittersweet to see Terminator 2 end all loose threads in the Terminator universe but it was necessary to keep it from getting stale. Since movie studios worship money rather then creativity they made a third movie that took a piss on the continuity of the series and it made this awful movie possible. If you are fan of the series trying to piece together the continuity will drive you crazy.

As soon as anyone says Terminator to you the first thing you will always think of is Arnold Schwarzenegger and for good reason. Arnold was the reason kids re-watched Terminator 2 over and over again because he was a total bad ass. In Salvation you actually get two main characters but neither of them are nearly as interesting.

I was actually surprised how bad Bale’s acting is in this movie I have seen nearly every other movie he has been in and usually at worst he is solid. Bale’s acting is not the most awful thing about Salvation though the special effects at some points look downright cartoonish.

Should You Watch This Movie?

If you watched the other Terminator movies you kind of have to but I guarantee you will not be happy with your decision.
