Who is the Audience for This Movie?
Fans of psychological thrillers.
What I Liked About This Movie
Since Shutter Island is directed by Martin Scorsese its no surprise that the movie looks sharp so it would be better use of time to talk about the other fantastic aspects of this movie. Right out the gate (literally) the movie quickly starts filling up with interesting characters. Some are used sparingly and others are quite vital to the story later on in the movie. Tension is apparent throughout the entire movie with little time wasted at the beginning to start building it.

As Teddy Daniels explores the island and its inhabitants as a viewer you are treated to a bunch of atmospherically creepy settings. The exploration takes its toll on Teddy when he begins having very lucid dreams which are almost freakier then the island. DiCaprio has been in a few Scorsese movies now and is solid until the last few minutes of the movie. A major plot point is revealed which really puts his acting ability on display. The big reveal is downright shocking and the last two lines of the movie leave it open for you to interpret the movie how you wish.
What Didn’t Work For Me
Its not that it didn’t work for me by the end of the movie but I was a little bummed out that I had figured out the twist within the first few minutes. It was made a little too obvious.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Yup.
