What I Liked About This Movie
Movies like The Chaser are the reason I actively seek out new Asian movies. The main reason I say that is because I love how uniquely plotted this movie is. At first it seems like its going to be an all out chase movie but police procedural and political aspects slowly seep in then the movie eventually pulls back to its starting threads. Its execution is impressive; the main characters journey is everything but smooth and expected giving the movie a more down to earth feeling.

Not only is the story really strong the characters are as well. Both main characters (The Pimp & the Serial Killer) start out very one dimensional but by the movies climax are given a lot of depth. The Pimp at first is only worried about finding his girl to get his money but as soon as he starts finding out more about her and realizes the inept police are not going to help him he steps up his efforts and gets emotionally invested in his search. The Serial Killer at first seems like evil incarnate as the movie goes on though you get clues that he is a weak willed person when dealing with people are not defenseless and he gets what is coming him. Lots of times in movies with a bad/good guy one or the other gets all the character development but in The Chaser both get the time they deserve.
What Didn’t Work For Me
It feels just a little bit too long.
