Based on a true story Bronson is a bio pic (Tom Hardy) that takes a look at the life of Britain’s most violent and famous prisoner.
Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like movies that focus solely on one character.
What I Liked About This Movie
Bronson is a bizarre surreal experience that will sit in your head for days after you watch it. The first thing that draws you in is the tinting and effects applied to the movie that make it look aged. Bronson for the most part is very darkly shadowed but there are sections where it is intentionally washed out to make it look older. To go with the style the score for the most part is cheesy 80’s synthesized dance music that somehow manages to work very well.

What makes the movie worth watching is Tom Hardy his portrayal of Michael Peterse (a.k.a Charles Bronson) is sublime. His character is given many facets and he handles them all with a look of pure madness on his face the whole time. It also doesn’t hurt that his voice and appearance match his craziness. As the movie rolls on you cant help but be mesmerized by the character even though he is incredibly evil. The one aspect that I think makes the character truly unique are the inter-cut scenes of Bronson doing a one man show in front of an audience. The scenes delve deep into his psyche and allows the audience (which is in his mind) and we the viewers know his true feelings.
Bronson leaves you wondering and wanting to explore the movie again immediately after the credits start.
What Didn’t Work For Me
You have been warned there is some slight on screen male genitalia.
