Videodrome

After viewing an appalling video a skuzzy TV programmer (James Woods) starts losing control of his reality.

Who is the Audience for This Movie?

Fans of surreal movies.

What I Liked About This Movie

It took me three viewings to finally review Videodrome. I have to attribute that mostly to the fact that this movie really screws with your perception of it every time you watch it.

At the start you’re mostly disgusted by James Woods character (he is stellar in this movie) but as the movie rolls on and he starts losing grip on reality you start feeling like the bad guy for continuing to watch the very graphic violent and sexual scenes. Videodrome keeps toying with you and continually ramps itself up to its jaw dropping finale that will either confuse or shock you. Beyond that the practical special effects still manage to be incredibly effective even though by now they may be a bit dated looking. Videodrome is NOT for everyone but if you’re an adventurous movie watcher there is plenty to like about this movie.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Nothing.

Should You Watch This Movie?

Videodrome makes you feel dirty for watching it, highly recommended.
