What I Liked About This Movie

Piranha is the perfect non-serious horror movie. Before watching the movie I saw that the running time was around 80 minutes. For a movie like this I find that more often then not it is incredibly effective because as a viewer I want to be in and out of the experience before I have time to linger on its ridiculousness. In its short running time to keep your attention tension is ramped up and then for short moments it’s eased off before itramps up again. You won’t get bored of the overall craziness on screen and if you do bore easily the gluttony of boobage should keep watching.

Piranha (2010)

The cast surprisingly has a few notable actors (Richard Dreyfuss, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O’Connell) and many of them get flat out owned in this movie. While watching Piranha I felt it was good but one scene raised it way beyond average. I am not going to ruin it but there is a gruesomely graphic scene in this movie that has to be in the running for the highest kill count in a horror movie and its also one of the longest scenes in the movie.

What Didn’t Work For Me

In the last few moments of the movie they drop a huge revelation that opens up the movie for the inevitable sequel. Usually I hate when movies do that but in the case of Piranha I was even angrier because I want to see that sequel as soon as possible and I know I will have to wait for it.

Should You Watch This Movie?

It’s not for everyone but I was thoroughly entertained by Piranha unlike most horror movies it keeps itself in check in the seriousness department and is pure trashy fun.
