What I Liked About This Movie

Donnie Brasco is 2.5 hour movie that absolutely flies by due to extremely precise and swift editing. From the get go you are introduced to the movies mob world as an insider looking out and it stays that way until the final scenes. The movie balances its mob plot and the FBI agents personal/professional life about 70/30 respectively. They are only a few scenes where as the viewer you are pulled from the mob lifestyle and like the main character in them they feel awkward.

Having two great male actors fronting this movie also gives a huge boost. Pacino portrays his character with a lot care but Depp absolutely dominates every scene he is in as far as I am concerned this is his best role so far. Of course you need a good script as well and the dialogue is always crisp and to the point without going too over the top.

What Didn’t Work For Me

Many of the dramatic musical cues sound either too loud or misused.

Should You Watch This Movie?
