What I Liked About This Movie

Props to the director for naming the movie Brother From Another Planet it sets you up perfectly for the strange experience that follows after the title sequence. If you like 70’s blaxploitation movie you don’t need to bother reading this review you need to watch this movie right away it will be right up your alley. For those of you reading this review that may not be familiar with the blaxploitation genre this would be a great introduction to one of the most interesting movie genres.

Brother From Another Planet does not explain or achieve much during its runtime but thats not the point of the movie. The main character never speaks instead he just listens to anyone who sparks up a one-sided conversation with him. It is a really cool plot device that allows the characters to talk about social issues openly and talk they do. It’s a very talky movie but I enjoyed it because all the characters are uniquely interesting and the dialogue is great. I also enjoyed the fact that the movie makes you feel like a the mute main character although he moves the plot forward but has no control over whats said and is disoriented by his surroundings.

What Didn’t Work For Me

The ending was handled very strangely.

Should You Watch This Movie?

I watched it mainly because it has an awesome title and ended up being treated to a very interesting experience. You should definitely watch this movie.
