Who is the Audience for This Movie?
People who like mystery movies.
What I Liked About This Movie
Before I say anything about this remake I would like to point out that I watched the original swedish version of this movie and its two sequels a few weeks before viewing this remake. After watching the entire trilogy I admired many aspects of them but they lacked two very important aspects that really dragged them down; brisk editing and stylish cinematography. Fortunately, David Fincher (Director) felt the same way I did and made his take on the story a much better cinematic experience.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is very much a procedural affair but unlike most movies of its kind its side stories that develop the main characters are incredibly interesting they almost steal the thunder from the rest of the movie. You do care for the characters as they work their way through the mystery and their chemistry is unique. As the movie draws to a close it feels like they would not have a strong way to end it but the last scene speaks volumes about the main characters true relationships.
What Didn’t Work For Me
My major gripe with the swedish version is still apparent. As the movie nears its third act it becomes bogged down by its early over-plotting and has to spend a bunch of time cleaning up all of the loose ends.
Should You Watch This Movie?
Absolutely.
